La canción “Una Palabra” (CD NUBES) del cantautor cubano Carlos Varela ha sido seleccionada por el director norteamericano Tony Scott para su última película “Man of Fire” donde aparecen los importantes actores norteamericanos Denzel Washington, Christopher Walken, Mickey Rourke y el cantante Marc Anthony entre otros.

La película que se estreno este viernes en Norteamérica, narra la historia de un decepcionado agente de la CIA retirado quien después de aceptar en México un empleo para proteger a una carismática niña (Dakota Fanning) empieza a rehacer su vida gracias a una especial relación que se fortalece a la par de dramáticos sucesos para ambos.

Tony Scott, hermano de otro famoso director de cine: Ridley Scott; ha dirigido muchas de las películas mas taquilleras de los últimos veinte años en los Estados Unidos, como es el caso de Top Gun, Beverly Hills Cop II, Enemy of the State, Crimson Tie, Spy Games, The Fan, Days of Thunder, etc. El director que siempre ha prestado especial interés a los temas que incluye en la banda sonora de sus películas ha propiciado que algunos de estos temas terminen además siendo súper éxitos radiales o partes de importantes compilaciones musicales.

La canción “Una Palabra” ya había hecho su debut en un proyecto cinematográfico cuando el conocido director de cine Mexicano Alejandro González Iñárritu (Amores Perros, 21 Grams, ) decidió hacerla el tema principal de su cortometraje “Hire: The Powder Keg”, que se filmo como parte de un proyecto de cortos para Internet, patrocinado por la empresa automotriz alemana BMW.

En “Man of Fire”, este poema cantado de Varela tiene un protagonismo especial, no solo porque es la canción con la cual se termina la película sino porque además durante casi dos minutos complementa con su hermoso lirismo y poderosa letra todo el clímax que Tony Scott magistralmente había creado durante mas de dos horas de suspenso y acción.

Carlos Varela a quien el Departamento de Estado recientemente le había negado el derecho de poder cantar a su público en los Estados Unidos tiene ahora la oportunidad de “UNA FANTASTICA Y MASIVA FORMA DE EXPOSICION MUNDIAL DE SU OBRA” según las palabras del propio Alejandro González Iñárritu.
